Darlinghurst needs an informed voice!
The volunteer board of the DBP (all local small business folk) is and has been actively involved in advocacy for Darlinghurst for many years.
We run quarterly drinks nights for local businesses (no name tags), are working on an East Sydney Destination Marketing Strategy with the Potts Point Partnership and Surry Hills Creative Precinct. Instead of doing big festivals we believe in encouraging local businesses to collaboratively work on small creative events with their neighbours.
As a member the least you have to do is join and be happy that we are out there doing the things we do or you can become as involved as you want. This might not sound like much, but the more supportive members we have, the greater the ability we have to affect positive change in our environment.
We have a tonne of ideas of our own, and we are all volunteers but if you have an idea bring it to us and we will see if we can work with you on it, or put you in touch with other locals passionate about the same things.
Future members' meeting will give you a chance to speak your mind, inform the board of your concerns and get involved in projects.
Due to our belief that our local independent small businesses are the product we have to "sell" to the wider world, the Darlinghurst Business Partnership has a nominal yearly General Membership of $10 ex GST, for which you also become an alliance partner of the State Chamber of Commerce. Businesses eligible for this level of membership are independently owned and/or operated small businesses, as well as local franchisees.
In addition to general membership, the DBP has two further membership categories National and Global Associate. These are for national and international corporate operations and are non-voting memberships that carry ex GST fees of $250 and $2500 respectively.*
Just complete the below form and after the committee determines for which level of membership you qualify, will get back to you with an invoice and payment options.
NB: as per our constitution, a successful membership application is subject to nomination by two existing members.
* The committee has final determination as to the level of membership appropriate for an applicant but a good guide is:
General Member - Local Small Independent Business
National Associate Member - Australian Chain
Global Associate Member - International Chain
