Oxtravaganza 2018 - Darlinghurst
Saturday 24th Feb - From Day into Night
A stomping ground for queers, bohemians, and outcasts, whose influences delightfully combine to form a unique cultural hub. From the iconic gay bars, to live music venues and fiercely independent retail, artistic expression has always underpinned the Darlinghurst community: an unconventional and non-judgmental space.
Join us Saturday the 24th of February 2018 as we celebrate the rich and diverse community of the Pink Mile with a collection of events and showcases put on by the local business and entertainment community in collaboration with their neighbours and local talent. Think live Shibari window displays, DJs performing on the street, burlesque dancers in display windows & drag cover bands.
There’ll be a string of free events within venues and the strip will be transformed to highlight the unique character of our spectacular community, with Oxford Square hosting a SSM wedding-themed market for the day (tunes provided by Ricardo's Mobile Disco).
The fabulous Young Henrys have upped the anti and are donating a plethora of Kegs to locals venues in our own take on the Karma Keg, something we are calling YES! KEGS, to celebrate marriage equality. Local venues will be selling schooners for $5 and ALL proceeds from this (and two street BBQs) will go to our amazing charity partner Twenty10 +GLCS who provide LGBTIQA+ social support, counselling, housing, mental health for young people’

Jason's studio is almost 20 years old and for that time he's literally made hundreds of wedding bands for the gay and lesbian community.
Quote: "It's hard to believe that it was only last year...2017...that the term 'commitment rings' became obsolete in this country. I was working on a design for a pair of gay guys in january and asked them if they wanted the date of the ceremony inside their rings. 'No', was the answer...''that's the date the government has told us we can be married, we met 25 years ago! and that is the date we want on our rings."
Claire's Kitchen at Le Salon

Nicky Solomon Marriage Celebrant
Is a local Surry Hills civil celebrant who has been conducting weddings, commitment ceremonies and funerals since 2007. She's been involved in many different styles of ceremony from the tiny (5 people) to the huge (150) and from traditional to definitely non traditional. She is thrilled that SSM is now legal (about time!!!) and will be talking to couples who are thinking of getting married and answering any questions they have about the process; both legal questions and general ones about the ceremony.
Ricardo's Mobile Disco - Soundtrack Providers
As amorous as it is amorphous; The Ricardo’s Mobile Disco originated in a community club, deep in Sydney’s inner west, perished in a blaze of noise complaints, and rose again in a Newtownian basement. Such is the lifecycle of Sydney-based music event. For a brief flicker, the RMD played host to a latenite party, who’s brevity was only matched by its infamy qualities which earned Ricardo’s an FBi SMAC award nomination for Best Music Event in 2017.
Today, The Ricardo’s Mobile Disco is a houseandtechno roving feast, delivering the same flavours and robust textures as the weekly club fixture, but with a previously unattainable freedom and mobility. Ricardo’s Mobile Disco it’s fun on wheels

OXTRAVAGANZA RETAIL PROGRAMME
Oxtravaganza is like a snow-ball rolling down a hill; as we get closer to the date more and more people and shops get involved and this is precisely because that is how the event is designed: for the early adopters to get out there and plan, and for the rest of the community to be inspired by those ideas and join the fray.
Sax Fetish - 110 Oxford Street
Shibari. The seductive and ancient art of Japanese bondage. You told us how much you loved the riggers in our windows last year, so we are doing it all over again throughout the day at Sax Fetish. We are so excited that our friends at Studio Kink will be joining us again in 2018. You will be mesmerised by the beautiful creations and spell bound by suspended bodies in luscious rope.
We already know you loved our rope play, demo but we think it’s a sure bet you are going to go wild for hot guys in nothing but underwear, sneakers and huge smiles. Sax Fetish and Andrew Christian have some of the hottest guys in Sydney stripped down to their undies. They will be out cruising Oxford St with free samples from the Swiss Navy Lube collection and they are on a mission to get selfies with you. Don’t be shy. Get your phones out & selfie like crazy with Sydney’s hottest underwear models. Make sure you plaster those pics all over Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and any other online account you have. Sax wants to help you make your friends as jealous as all hell if they miss Oxtravaganza this year. The boys are pumped, primed and ready for some fun.
A long-time favourite at Sax Fetish and a guaranteed crowd pleaser Dick Savvy – the Naked Barber will be on hand at Sax Fetish all afternoon. It is so damn hard to keep clothes on that guy. When he isn’t in bondage Dick will be offering $10 buzz cuts or a shave in that special way only Dick can. We are still trying to figure out if we can fit a barber chair in our window. Dick will be on hand with us from 1:00pm – 5:00pm. Bookings recommended. firstname.lastname@example.org or 9331 6105
Get yourself along to Sax Fetish, the hottest shop of the strip, this Oxtravaganza. But if you can’t squeeze your way in past the crowd, our underwear boys will be on the scout. We don’t think you are going to miss them.
