City Gym
107-113 Crown St, Darlinghurst, NSW, 2010

Nearly 40 years ago, Billy Moore wanted to establish a gym like no other in Australia. He opened the doors of City Gym, showing Sydney a revolutionary new way of thinking about fitness.

Open to everyone, encouraging and welcoming of women, featuring the first group fitness classes in the City, Bill virtually overnight revolutionised the concept of what a gym could be. Bill Moore encouraged and supported everyone: world class athletes, the rich, the famous, the infamous, the characters and denizens of Darlinghurst and perhaps most important, everyone who wanted to come and achieve. Bill Moore passed away in late 2014, but his legacy lives on every day at City Gym.

True to Bill Moore’s founding principles, the City Gym of today remains firmly focused on the results our members achieve. But today, over 30 of Australia’s elite personal trainers and three floors of equipment and facilities house embody a refinement and expansion of what Bill envisioned. And the independence of City Gym has never changed, we are part of no chain - you will be welcomed every time, personally, just as Bill would have wanted it.

Ching-a-lings
1/113 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, NSW, 2010

The young local crowd gravitates to this little gem of a bar like moths to a flame. A gritty, underground feel echoes across every inch of the spray-painted brick interior of Ching-a-Lings – named after the famous New York biker gang of the 1970s – and suits the dingy Oxford Street surrounds.

The quickest way to find this place is to ask someone. There is no signage and no line up the stairs to the yellow-lit bar, which is furnished with low couches and tall bar stools.

You won’t find any fancy cocktail lists or extravagant bar food here. It just beer, house wine and spirits at Ching-a-Lings, which are all reasonably priced for an inner city watering hole.

DJs spin a mix of funk and electronic beats while patrons kick back to chat with friends or sit outside on the deck out the back. +

Cinema Den
1 Burton Street, Darlinghurst, NSW, 2010

At 'Cinema Izakaya Hibiki響' we have an impressive range of Japanese foods, sushi, wine, sake, beer, cocktails with relaxed interior and antique artwork. Cinema-themed lounge bar/restaurant.

Review: This restaurant is now called Cinema Hibiki. Came in for fresh juice, this is the first time I came by this restaurant and they look interesting with the Japanese food style menu and the movie showings. The juice was fantastic I wasn't sure whether the combo would work (apple, lemon, cucumber) but it was surprisingly good. I will come back for dinner and movie night in the near future!
